Ari Goodman, online LCSW in Colorado, based in Denver
If you keep having the same fight and can see your part in it, you don't need someone to tell you who's right. You need help figuring out what the fight is really about, and how to say it so it's heard.

Why I do this work
Maybe you're tired of the same fight. You care about the person, you can see your part, and you still end up somewhere you didn't mean to go.
It can feel like everyone is fighting these days, and not many people are stopping to reflect. I believe people can figure it out, if they know what they're actually fighting about and how to say it in a way that's likely to be heard.
It can be incredibly hard to break out of patterns of relating. So I don't expect you to have it figured out, only that you’re open to learning more about yourself and how to do things differently.
How I work
I'm an individual therapist in Denver, and I see adults online across Colorado and Washington. Sessions with me are curious and engaging, and sometimes a little funny. I'm patient, and I also know when a gentle push will help.
I pace the work to where you are. While you're still reacting fast, we focus on understanding it and settling yourself. Once you can catch yourself and think, "ah, here I go again," we practice saying what you need.
We work on your side of the pattern. Your partner or parent doesn't need to come in, because your side is the part you have the most say over.
I've trained in Relational Psychodynamic Therapy. In plain terms, we look at how earlier relationships shaped the way you react now. In a session, we slow down a moment that went badly, name the feeling or need underneath, check whether it's the real one and whether it was heard, then plan how to say it.
If any of this sounds like you, let’s talk

Am I the right therapist for you?
I'm likely a good fit if you keep having the same conflict with someone close, you can look at your own part, and you want to understand why before you change it. You don't need to be good at naming feelings yet.
How do I find an online LCSW in Colorado for relationship conflict?
Look for a licensed clinical social worker who works with relationship conflict and offers sessions by video. I'm an online LCSW in Colorado, and a LICSW in Washington, who sees individual adults for the same conflict that keeps coming up with a partner, parent, in-law, or their kids. The first 20-minute consult is free.
Who is a good individual therapist in Denver for changing how I react in conflict?
Look for an individual therapist in Denver who helps you understand your reactions first, then practice new ones. I pace the work to where you are, and we work on your side of the pattern without your partner or family in the room.
